MIYAKO ARMYTAGE – GLASS ARTIST
Livingston and Miyako Armytage in Samoa.
For over 20 years, Miyako studied traditional Japanese pottery in Tokyo City. After moving to Sydney, she started working with glass. She says it is much easier to work with than clay or porcelain. She celebrates the Japanese tradition of chefs who become potters as well so that they can serve their food on dishes of their own making.
Miyako is co-director of the Centre for Judicial Studies with her husband, Livingston Armytage. This means that she keeps the back office running, and manages Livingston’s social, cultural, sartorial and nutritional needs.
Miyako is based in Glebe NSW, and makes glass dishes of all sizes with mixed coloured glass and a very fine decorative approach.
The dishes range from very small chopstick rests to large platters.

The illustrated Glass Platters are approximately 30cm x 30cm.
